Sapney is a dubbed version of a 1997 Indian Tamil-language musical romance film Minsara Kanavu. The film co written and directed by Rajiv Menon. The film stars Arvind Swamy, Prabhu Deva, and Kajol in her Tamil debut, with Girish Karnad, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, V. K. Ramasamy and Nassar in other pivotal roles.
Priya, a friendly girl who often falls into trouble, has an admirer, Thomas, though she wants to be a nun. So Thomas takes Deva's help to convince her for himself, but she falls for Deva instead.
The soundtrack features 6 songs composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Vairamuthu (Tamil) and Javed Akhtar (Hindi).
