Fender Squier Affinity Series PJ Bass Guitar

Fender Squier Affinity Series PJ Bass Guitar

This review is all about the feel and the tone of this bass from a very close & personal point of view. I feel the “Bass” is all about The Feel.

So, Let’s Plug and Play.

Low-End Lovers, Main aa gaya hoon!! (I have arrived).

Initially, This is a pure Beginner Bass, but after you become a seasoned one, you will still love the tone of it.

If you are looking for bass under 20 k and that too a Fender Bass, then you must go for this one. Even if you aren’t sure about which bass to buy and are confused or totally lost, then also you must consider this bass for yourself.  Either for a gig or for recording in the studios, this bass will always cover what you are up to. But please don’t buy it thinking that it will be a high-end bass, with smooth physical details, with those high-end fretboards or it will be even close to Player Series Bass which comes around 60 k. No, it won’t be any one of these.

But, the most important question here is that “is this bass worth its price?”. The answer is, yes DEFINITELY. Fender never goes wrong here. When it comes to price and the value, especially for Squier and Mexican (Player) series, Fender makes sure that it offers more than it’s asking for.

The best thing about this bass is that it has got both the pickup configuration. Precision pickup at the neck and a Jazz pick up at the bridge. And this makes this Bass apart and a versatile one.

At its bridge pickup, you get the famous fender jazz bass tone with a compromise of course (you will not get the jazzy tone like a fender American one or even a Mexican one), but it will be a good tone for the beginners for sure. You can use it in your recording or on your stage. It will not let you down. The tone at the bridge pickup is bright and warm.

At its Neck Pick up, you will get the classic precision bass tone. Here you will get the tone, which will sit perfectly in most of your mixes. That’s what Precision bass are known for precisely. That’s what they are famous for. And for this reason, every session bass player, studio engineer always keep a precision bass in their collection. The tone of Precision just sits in the mix. Sometimes, you don’t even need to eq it.

So in the fender affinity Squier bass, you will get the classy p bass tone at its neck pick up.

So, easily a versatile bass. Isn’t it.

Now let’s come back to playability.

It’s good bass to start off. The neck is C shape and is slim. So that beginners will find it easy to move around the neck. The finish on the Neck is Satin. Again this will give the players a good smooth grip around the neck.
The fretboard feels smooth, but not buttery smooth like the expensive ones. If a beginner is Playing the bass, he or she won’t be complaining of that ever as it has a good smooth fretboard.
Fretboard material is Indian Laurel.
The control knobs are vintage styles, the tuning machines are the vintage styles(Knurled Dome)

Final Words:

This is a very good bass for the beginners for sure. A very good bass to learn and take it in the studios and on the stage as well. I will not recommend it to the intermediate players and never for the professionals for sure. But it is a hundred percent value for its money. The Beginners will get more than their expectations while playing this bass. Fender never goes wrong in producing a good tone, as this bass is no exception in that sense. It has a beautiful tone and tonal options too.

Other than this bass in this range, the buyer can look out for Ibanez and Yamaha bass in the same range. They give this bass a good fight. But for fender lovers, Fender is always a Fender.

See you with your new bass, while I write to you next time. Take care folks.

I will not write about Pros and Cons as they differ from player to player, person to person.
